In May and June, 1918, William Robert Jones, editor of  the Yellville,  Arkansas Mountain Echo wrote a series of  newspaper articles about the  early history Wayne County,  Illinois which were published in the Wayne County PRESS,  nearly one hundred years after the formation of the county  in March, 1819.

Jones was a native of Wayne County, and in these  articles, he recorded  his remembrances, and those of  other early inhabitants of the area. His  insights into  pioneer life as the land opened up to settlement are most fascinating.   Most of the early Wayne County pioneers are identified.

Mr. Jones was born in 1861 and died about 1930, never  having the articles printed in book form as he had  intended. In 1970, his daughter, Mrs. Sam Duren, loaned  this material to be microfilmed. The microfilm was  obtained from the LDS Family History Library.

This soft cover with spiral binding book has 104 pages and is fully indexed.  The cost is $25.00 (includes $3.50 for priority mail).
