Walter Weaver, a well-known Fairfield resident, observed his 92nd birthday Saturday, June 26.

He celebrated the occasion by greeting relatives and friends at his home  at 404 N. E. 5th Street. Mr. Weaver received a number of cards, among them best wishes from President Gerald Ford and Governor Dan Walker.  A staunch Republican, Mr. Weaver has taken an active part in politics for many years. He served as County Treasurer from 1926-1930; was County Clerk from 1930-34.

He served in the capacity of deputy, four years each, for Sterling Ellis, Donnie Wheeler, Forest Scott, Harold Werner and David Dickey - a total of 28 years in the court house.

He attends Sunday School and church every Sunday that health permits. He takes an active part in the Masonic Lodge seldom missing a meeting.

Mr. Weaver has one daughter, Mrs. Flo Burton, of Springfield; and two sons, Clyde, of Fairfield, and Otis, of Urbana. He has 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His wife passed away in 1966. A son, Bennie, died in 1974.

Mr. Weaver is in comparatively good health for his age. His daughter,Mrs. Burton and his Daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bennie Weaver, took him to Two Tonys at Carmi for lunch Sunday. He enjoyed all his "birthday" festivities and commenting on his advanced years, said he hopes to live to be a hundred.
