ENLISTED:   January 19, 1864 at Walnut Hill, Illinois.
DISABLED:   July 21, 1865, at Grismaldville (very hard to read), Georgia.
DISCHARGED:   July 24, 1864 in Louisville, Kentucky.

DISABILITY:   Catarrh of the head, total deafness in left ear and slight deafness of right ear.
CAUSE OF DEATH:   Acute Gastritis.

Born October 5, 1828 in Mansfield, Ohio.

WIFE:   Mary B. Lappin.
DATE MARRIED:   October 6, 1890, by S. S. Palfreeman, Esq.
Former wife Mary A. McRill, died May 1st, 1871.
CHILDREN Living:
      Margaret Barr born May 10, 1852;
      Lydia Burkett born October 2 (I think, but might be 20) 1856;
      Charles P. McRill born May 10, 1859.

RESIDENCES
1865-1912:   In and around Pin Oak, Illinois.
November 24, 1909:   Mt. Vernon, Illinois. At that time he was 81 years old, weighed 128 pounds, and was 5' 9 1/2 inches tall.
May 18, 1912:   John says he is 83 years old and a citizen of Wayne City, Wayne Co., Illinois.

Mary tried to get his pension, but failed. Daughter Margaret said she had Susan R. Lee death record but I don't remember seeing it in the file.

APPLICATION FOR REIMBURSEMENT
Ellsworth M. McRill, nephew, and Lillie McRill, niece, to be paid back for nursing him.
Margaret M. Barr, age 60, resident of Centralia, Marion Co., Illinois, says John M. McRill was married 3 times: Mary A. Wilson, Susie R. Lee and Mary B. Richardson. His wife, Mary,is still alive. He was divorced.

Witnesses at various times were Thomas J. Harris of Jeffersonville, Illinois, and Ephraim Bull of Castor, Wayne Co., Illinois.

He had no children by Susan.
