Bessie Rosalie OVERALL, was born 17 August 1883 in Wayne Co., IL and died 9 Nov 1959 in Lincoln, Logan Co., IL. She was the daughter of Posey and Isabell (SIMMS) OVERALL; granddaughter of William and Mary SIMMS; and John and Sarah OVERALL.

Her siblings were:

On 19 Feb 1899 in Wayne Co., IL she married Charles Thomas SAMPSON, son of Victor N. SAMPSON and Josephine IDDINGS; and grandson to Francis Freeland SAMPSON and Matilda BAXTER; and William IDDINGS and Mary Jane MITCHELL.

Charles SAMPSON was born 20 July 1873 in Wayne Co., IL and died 8 Nov 1931 in Lincoln, Logan Co., IL of Chronic Myocarditis, which is the hardening of muscular walls of the heart.

In 1945 Bessie, at the age of 60, went to work at the Conkey Plant in Lincoln, IL and was placed in the Inspection Department. Their daughter Hazel Sampson KINGSLEY and granddaughter Betty KINGSLEY also worked at the Plant.

  5. Pearl Marie SAMPSON [KINGSLEY] 1907-1996.  Married Frank W. KINGSLEY.
  6. Raymond SAMPSON 1909-1980
  7. Albert W. SAMPSON 1917-1917
  8. Margaret SAMPSON 1921
  9. Alice SAMPSON [GILLISON] 1925-Present

Joseph A. KINGSLEY originally purchased Bessie and Charles gravesites, for himself and his wife Mittie. Joseph moved his family back to Laconia, IN, where they remained. Joseph gave the gravesites to his son Walter KINGSLEY who married Charles's daughter, Hazel. Charles was originally buried in Sec B, Range 14, Grave 10. He was moved on July 1, 1972 to Sec D, Block 39, Lot 3 next to Bessie, his wife.

1900 IL Census, Grover Twp, Fairfield City, Wayne Co., IL: Charles is shown living with his mother, Josephine SAMPSON, Feb 1840, 60, widowed. Living with her are: William, Oct 1871, 28, son/single; Charles, July 1875, 24, son/married; Bessie, 1883,16, dau-n-law; and Roy, Feb 1900, 4 mo, grandson.

1910 IL Census, Logan Co., IL: Charles, 35; Bessie, 25, wife; Roy, 10, son; Jesse, 8, son; Elmer, 6, son; Hazel, 4, daughter; Pearl, 2, daughter.

1920 IL Census, West Lincoln Twp, Logan Co., IL: Charles, 46, Chicken Picker, Produce Co., as his profession/trade; Bessie, 36, wife; Roy, 20, son; Jesse, 17, son; Elmer, 16, son; Hazel, 13, daughter; Pearl, 12, daughter; and Raymond, 9, son.

Also on the 1920 IL Census, West Lincoln Twp, Logan County, IL, the KINGSLEY family lived in the neighborhood. KINGSLEY was misspelled “Kingles” on this census. Hazel and Pearl SAMPSON married Walter and Frank KINGSLEY. The KINGSLEY household is as follows: Joseph Kingsley, 47; Living with him are: Mittie, wife, 38; Nellie L., daughter, 20; Charley, son, 18; Walter, son, 17; Frank, son, 15, Dolly, daughter, 9; Elsie, daughter, 7; Sidney, son, 5; Dorothy, daughter, and 3; Neva, daughter, 1.
