LOUIS D. BARTH, merchant, Enterprise P.O, came to Wayne County in 1879, from Posey County, Ind., his native county, and after clerking in Fairfield a year came to Enterprise and purchased the business interests of Henry Smith, and has since conducted the same with marked success, he carrying a large varied line of goods and commands a liberal patronage throughout the surrounding country.

He was born July 28, 1858, and is the elder of the two children born to Gottlieb and Harriet (Miller) Barth. The father is a well-to-do farmer of this township. He is a native of Germany and is a son of Andy Barth.

Our subject obtained a good schooling in his native county, and previous to coming to Wayne County, was engaged principally in farming.

He married Lena Feller, a daughter of Jacob Feller, now deceased, and has one child -- Minnie E.

Mr. Barth has been the Post Master at Enterprises for several years, and has filled many of the township offices, and is at present a member of the County Board. He is a Democrat politically.
