James W. Hilliard

1884 Biographical Sketches of Arrington Twp

JAMES W. HILLIARD, farmer, P. O. Jeffersonville, was born November 29, 1826, in Fayette County, Penn., son of George B. Hilliard, of Wayne County, Ill. and was educated in Noble and Belmont Counties, Ohio.

He came to Wayne County, Ill., in the spring of 1858, and has been County Surveyor for twelve years. Deputy for four years, Supervisor for four years, Town Clerk for four or five years, Highway Commissioner for nine years, and Justice of the Peace for eight years.

He is a member of the Catholic Church, and was married in Monroe County, Ohio, August 22, 1852 to Sarah Daugherty, of the same county, by whom he had ten children, nine living --
