Virginia Crawford, 61, Dies

Mrs. Virginia Lee Simmons Crawford, 61, of Fairfield, the mother of Lawrence Crawford, died at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 1984 at the Way-Fair Restorium.

Death was due to a malignancy, the family said.

Services Friday

Funeral services will be held at 2 p..m. Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home with Bro. Carroll Kakac officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Thursday (tonight).

Mrs. Crawford was born at home in Fairfield Aug. 3, 1922, the daughter of Charles and Pansie C. (Wood) Simmons.

She was married to Lawrence Wayne Crawford, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Crawford attended grade school and high school in Fairfield. After graduation she attended Lockyear Business College in Evansville, Ind. and was employed at Sunbeam Electric and Hesmer's Food Inc. there. Returned to Fairfield

After returning to Fairfield, Mrs. Crawford was employed at Drs. Frankel and Marks Medical Center and later in the office of Airtex Products.

She served two years as president of Anthony Wayne Unit 176 of the American Legion Auxiliary and several years as secretary. At the time she became ill, she was serving as vice-president of the 24th District of the American Auxiliary. She also served as chapeau of Wayne Salon 484 of the 8/40. She also held membership in the World War I Auxiliary 206.

The Survivors

Survivors include one son, Lawrence Crawford, of Fairfield; her mother, Mrs. Pansie Simmons, of Fairfield; two grandchildren and one step-grandchild.
