L.H. Weaver Passes From This Life.

Well-Known Citizen of Fairfield Died At His Home in Fairfield, Shortly After Noon Thursday

Louis Harvey Weaver, one of Wayne county's best known and most highly respected citizens, passed away at his home on South East Second street last Thursday, August 2nd, shortly after noon.

Mr. Weaver has been in poor health for the past year or more. His trouble was first diagnosed as heart trouble and he was treated by the doctors for this. He was under the treatment of the Weber sanatorium at Olney for some months. Later it was ascertained that he suffered from a pulmonary trouble. During the last days of his illness his suffering was intense. Members of his family were called to his bedside a week before the end came.

Mr. Weaver was raised out in Berry township. He was elected sheriff of Wayne county in 1902 and served to 1906. He was reelected in 1914 and served until 1918. He made a good officer. He also served his township as supervisor and held other offices of trust. He was generous of impulse, many times much more so than his means would warrant. No appeal for help was ever made in vain to him.

He was married in his early manhood to Miss Ann Dickey. A son, Walter A. Weaver, grew to manhood, but died some fifteen years ago. The widow and five daughters survive. The daughters are: Mrs. Edna, wife of H. Wilford Cates, Fairfield; Mrs. May, wife of Hober O. Goodall, of Denison, Texas; Mrs. Etta, wife of Huber H. Bright, of Granite City; Miss Chloe Weaver, an employe of the Fairfield National Bank and Miss Edythe Weaver, of Granite City, Illinois.

Following the death of their son, Dr. W.A. Weaver, Mr. And Mrs. Weaver took into their home a granddaughter, Miss Dorothy Weaver, and she has been raised and cared for as one of the family.

The funeral service was conducted Saturday morning at 10:00 o'clock at the First Christan[sic] church, of which the deceased was a member.

Rev. Orville Hawkins, former pastor, conducted the services.

The burial was in Maple Hill cemetery.
