Bro. Oakley Miller, Retired Minister, Dies At Age 91

Bro. Oakley Miller, 91, died at his home in the Golden Acres complex in Wayne City at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, 1999.

He had been in declining health with pancreatic cancer since November.

Brother Miller lived at Sims most of his life, before moving to Wayne City a year and a half ago.

At Liberty Baptist

He had pastored the Liberty Baptist Church at Burnt Prairie for 20 years until his health forced retirement last November. Brother Miller had at one time or another pastored most of the churches within the Greater Wabash Baptist Association. He was homored at the annual associational meeting last year for his 60 years service as a minister.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday morning (today) from the Johnson Funeral Home, with Bro. Everett Lemay officiating, with Bro. Gene Phillips and Bro. Calvin Reynolds assisting. Burial was in Pin Oak Cemetery near Sims. Visitation was held Wednesday evening at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.

He was born at Sims Mar. 13, 1908, the son of Willard and Ida Terry Miller.

ON May 17, 1936, he was married to Clara Bell. She died Aug. 27, 1996. His parents also preceded him in death.

The Survivors

Surviving are a daughter, Reba Ruth Miller of Marion; and one brother, Charles Miller, of Fairfield.
