REV. J. H. WHITSON
OF SIMS SUCCUMBS

In Hospital Here Five Weeks
Was Baptist Minister For Over 50 Years

Rev. J. H. Whitson, 86, of Sims, died early Monday morning in Memorial hospital where he had been a patient for the past five weeks suffering from ailments incident to his advanced age.

Rev. Whitson had served in the ministry for over fifty years. He was born near Sims on September 20, 1865, the son of the late E. Whitson and Sarah E. Cravens Whitson.

Funeral Wednesday

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon (today) at two o’clock from the Sims Missionary Baptist church by Rev. Oakley Miller. Burial will be in the Ten Oak cemetery.

The body will be moved from the Combs Funeral Home in Wayne City to the church at 11:00 o’clock Wednesday morning where it will lie in state until the funeral hour.

Rev. Whitson was a member of the Sims Missionary Baptist church.

Wife Dies

Following the death of his first wife, Clara Jones, he was later married to Gersie Witter, who also preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sisters: Mrs. Ida Smith and Bertha Richison with whom he had made his home for the past four years; two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Neaville, of Akron, Ohio; and Miss Mary Whitson, of Lincoln; two sons, Frank, of Edmons, Washington and Fred, of the U. S. Army stationed in Calif., one step-son, Russell Erkman, of Chicago, 17 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
