OBITUARY

Wallace Young Dies; Age 73

A well-known retired Wayne County farmer, William Wallace Young died Thursday at the Flora Hospital following months of gall bladder complications. He was 73.

Mr. Young worked as a farmer in Wayne county all of his life until retiring several years ago. However, even in retirement he still managed to farm a small amount of acreage on Route 1, Fairfield.

Underwent Surgery

During the last couple of years, Mr. Young had been in declining health after developing gall gladder problems. He underwent surgery for removal of his gall gladder but never fully recovered.

About six days before death, he was taken to the Flora Hospital by his family where he remained until his death.

Funeral services were held at Nales Funeral Home at 2 pm Saturday, with burial in Victory Cemetery near Boyleston. The Rev. James Clark officiated.

Born in 1897
Mr. Young was born July 15, 1897, in Wayne county, the son of William Douglas Young and Florence Bunting.

He married Grace Butler in 1918 in Geff.

He is survived by his wife, Grace; five sons, Leonard and Floyd, both of Fairfield; Beryl, of Cisne; Wilbur, of Fort Smith, Ark.; and Douglas, of Joliet; two daughters, Darlene Buchanan, of Fairfield; and Marjorie Daughterty, of Louisville; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
