SKETCH OF MR. BURROUGHS

Lester D., son of Hayes and Nancy Burroughs, was born near Geff, June 14th, 1855. He grew to manhood in the vicinity of his birth, but later moved to the Zenith neighborhood, where he has resided the greater part of his life.

In 1881 he was united in marriage with Mattie Stoddard. Seven children were born to this union. Two daughters, Mrs. Maud Lee and Mrs. Etta Clements preceded their father in death. The companion also preceded him in 1898.

He was united in marriage with Matilda Orr in 1900. This companion also preceded him in death in 1913.

In 1914 he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Cisne.

He was converted and baptized into the Brush Creek Branch of the Reorganized Church of the Latter Day Saints in 1886 and for over sixty years he was a faithful member of this congregation.

Following a few days of acute illness, he entered peacefully into rest at his home in Zenith, early Friday Morning, July 4th, 1947, age 92 years, and twenty days.

He is survived by his faithful companion; four sons, Walter of Xenia; Carl, of Zenith; Charles of Fairfield and Ray of San Francisco, California; one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Clements, of Detroit; two stepsons, J. B. Cisne, of Guthrie, Kentucky and C. W. Cisne, of Mt. Vernon; twenty-six grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted from the L. D. S. Church at Brush Creek Sunday morning, July 6th, by the pastor, Elder Lewis DeSelms, assisted by Elder Brad Henson. Interment was in the Harrell cemetery.
