JAMES CREIGHTON DIES

James Creighton, 80, well-known former Jasper township resident, passed away at his home on Sibley Avenue about noon Thursday following a three year's illness with a heart ailment.  Mr. Creighton had been in ill health the past month.  Plans were being made to take his wife to the hospital that afternoon for treatment for arthritis when he died
unexpectedly.

Funeral services were conducted from Nale's funeral home on Sunday afternoon by Kent M. Dale, pastor of the First Christian church.  Burial was in Maple Hill cemetery.

James Creighton, son of Joseph B. and Pernetta Ann Foster, was born November 7, 1869, in White county and passed from this life at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 3 days.

He was united in marriage February 25, 1894, with Sarah Elizabeth Gray.  Four children came to bless their home, one son, Earl A., of Detroit, Mich.; three daughters, Mabel, wife of John Farris of near Fairfield; Pauline, wife of Fred O'Malley of Mt. Vernon, and Alice, wife of James Gaither of Carmi.

He accepted Christ as his Savior and united with the First Christian church, Fairfield, in February, 1895, and lived a true Christian life until death.

Those left to mourn his leave-taking, besides his companion for fifty-five years and the children are four grandsons, three great-grandchildren, three brothers, John of Decatur, Joe of Los Angeles, Calif., Jake of Arkansas City, Kansas; three sisters, Myrtle Shaw of St. Francisville; Margaret Bond of Delavan, and Mary Adams of near Fairfield.

Those preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Susie Weedon.

Warm summer sun,
Shine kindly here;
Warm Southern wind,
Blow softly here;
Green sod above,
Lie light; lie light.
Good-night, dear one
Good-night --- good-night.
