MRS. RUTH CREIGHTON
DIES IN EVANSVILLE

Well-Known Fairfield Lady
Had Undergone an Operation
Funeral Hour Not Yet Set

Mrs. Ruth Creighton, widow of the late John M. Creighton, of this city,passed away about four o'clock Wednesday morning (today) in the Deaconess hospital in Evansville, Indiana, where she had been confined
for the past two weeks.

She had not been well for some time and since being in the hospital had undergone an operation for the removal of her appendix.  She was aged seventy-eight years.

The remains were returned to Fairfield in the Nale funeral car.  The funeral hour had not been set at press time Wednesday.

Mrs. Creighton was the mother of Mrs. Lee Grice and Mrs. L. K. Sunderland, of this city.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth M. [sic] Creighton, widow of the late John M. Creighton, were conducted at the First Methodist church Friday by Dr. Cameron Harmon.  Burial was in the Maple Hill cemetery.

Ruth W. Creighton, daughter of William and Rachel Whitacre, was born near Fairfield May 23, 1864, and passed away at the Deaconess hospital in Evansville, Indiana, March 19, 1941, age 76 years, nine months and 26 days.

She was married to John M. Creighton November 16, 1881. To this union twelve children were born, six boys and six girls.

She was preceded in death by her husband and four children, Milton Walter, William Cassius, Orin M. and Carrie Lee.

She leaves to mourn her departure five daughters, Mrs. George L. Crews, and Miss Eva Creighton of Oak Park; Mrs. Henry B?H?R? Puckett of Louisville, KY.; Mrs. L. K. Sunderland and Mrs. Lee Grice of this city, with whom she had made her home the past few years; three sons, Olin C., of St. Louis, Mo.; Jacob R. of Benton Harbor Mich.; and James A. of  Akron, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a sister,  Mrs. W. L. Grubb and a brother, Wat Whittaker, of Fairfield.

She professed faith in her Savior and was a member of the First M.E. church of Fairfield.
