OBITUARY

Mable Faye (HENSON) MELTON

Centralia - Mable Faye Melton, 98, of Centralia died at 6:35 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at St. Mary's/Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia.

Mrs. Melton was born on July 24, 1902, in Zenith, daughter ofWilliam P. and Maude (Burroughs) Henson. She married Claude O. Melton on May 14, 1921, in Centralia and he preceded her in death on May 5, 1979.

She is survived by two sons, William E. Melton and wife Mary Ann of Eldora, Iowa, and Robert L. "Bob" Melton of Centralia; three daughters, LaDonne Leyerle and Juanita C. Duff, both of Centralia, and Beverly Sue Jeffries and husband Jim of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; three brothers, Eugene B. Lee and wife Iris of Portland, Ore., Fred Lee and wife Catherine of Indianapolis, Ind., and Carl Lee of Paynesville, Ohio; one sister, Bonnie Gibson and husband I. Jay of Flower Mound, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Lester Lee and Jack Lee; and two sisters, Ellen Bean and Helen Lee.

Mrs. Melton lived in Centralia since she was 15 years old and was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church. She was a former member of the First Church of God and was a retired cook who had worked at several area restaurants.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Irvin Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Edwin E. Evans officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday or after 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church and will be received at the funeral home.
