Rebecca B. Singleterry was born January 18, 1842. On profession of her faith in Christ she was baptized into the fellowship of Pleasant Grove church, Wayne County, Illinois, by Elder S. A. Martin on January 11, 1858. She became a Charter member of the Barnhill church and moved her membership to Fairfield in 1892. Again she united with the Barnhill church in 1894 of which she was a consistent member at the time of her death.

She said "I have made lots of mistakes in life.  Never lived a perfect life by any means, but always desired to live a true follower of our blessed Savior, who shed his precious blood for me. Brethren and sisters pray for my only son andhis family when I am gone. I have a faithful husband; cheer him along the rugged way that he may have to travel."

She was married to Charles Young in September, 1868. To them one son was born, M. T. Young.  She was married last to G. W. Singleterry. To them
one daughter was born, who has gone to that better land.

She died 24 January 1911; aged sixty-nine years and six days. Funeral service by W. H. McCann.  Text, 1 Thess. 4:18: "wherefore comfort one another with these words."

NOTE: Rebecca Bennett (Atterberry) Singleterry was the daughter of Asa and Sarah (Renfro) Atterberry. Asa was the son of Richard and Rebecca (Bennett) Atterberry and brother of my G.G. Grandfather John Atterberry, born ca 1799 S.C. who married Barbary Unknown. John and Barbary had son Charles who married Susan Hunsinger. (My line spelled it Atteberry) The genealogy of this family and many of the Wayne County relatives can be found at
