Garrett Weaver, 104, Dies
Was Auxiliary Volunteer

Garrett Albert Weaver, 104, of Fairfield, died at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2002 at the Skilled Care Unit in Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

Auxiliary Volunteer

Mr. Weaver was a dedicated Fairfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliarymember who volunteered a total of 16,450 hours. His last day of volunteer work was in January of 1998 at the age of 100.

Services will be held Wednesp day, at First United Methodist Church in Wayne City at 11 a.m. with burial in Bailey cemetery.   Rev. Jim Peak will officiate. Visitation is Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. sy Johnson Funeral Home and Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Wayne City until the time of services.

He was born July 5, 1897 in Wayne County, the son of George H. Weaver and Sarah Little. His wife Mae preceded him in death on Dec 27, 1976. He was Wayne County's last surviving veteran of World War I

The Survivors

   Survivors include one son, Wesley E Weaver, of St. Charles, MO; one daughter, Marjorie Mitchell of Princeton, KY, one sister, Lois Thomas of Flora, five grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Fairfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or Fairfield Memorial Hospital Skilled Care Unit.
