OBITUARY

Frances Mary Simms was born, Aug. 23, 1841; died Sept. 7, 1902, age 61 years and 16 days.

She was united in marriage to Henry Walker, Dec. 25, 1860.  To them were born twelve children, five boys and seven girls.  Several of these have preceded to the better land.

She leaves a loving husband, one son, four daughters, four brothers, one sister and a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss.  But we know that our loss is her eternal gain.  Therefore, we weep not as those who have no hope.

She was a kind and loving wife and mother.  She bore her suffering of four long, weary years with patience.  She was conscious almost all the time, and said she was prepared to die.  We feel that she had paid the debt in this world of sorrow, and is at rest forever in the better land.  She always thought of others before self, and was loved by all who knew her.  We can not call her back, but we can go to her.

Therefore, we say, "God knoweth best, and his will be done."  She united with the Latter Day Saints Church of Jesus Christ in early girlhood and lived a faithful, consistent member, til death.

"Our dearest mother, thou hast left us.
Here thy loss we deeply feel
But 'tis God who hast bereft us,
He will all our sorrows heal."

A daughter.

Sept. 7th sister Fannie, two days before her death, after speaking to those who were sitting up with her in regard to her children who had passed on before, and of her own departure, prayed for all her family, and that the Lord Jesus would soon release her and take her home to the better world, and closed her prayer with these words:  "Now, O Lord Jesus, I know that thou soon will release me from this suffering and take me home to that better world, where sickness, sorrow, pain, and death will be felt and feared no more.

Her brother, John F. Simms
