MT. ERIE FARMER
DIES THURSDAY

Suffered Ill Health for Year
Funeral Services Saturday

Jess Windland, one of Wayne county’s most prominent farmers and livestock raisers, died last Thursday morning following several months of ill health. He was 45 years, six months and 17 days old.

Mr. Windland was the son of John and Hannah Windland, and was born near Geff, December 3, 1900. He grew to manhood in the vicinity of his birth and for several years was engaged in farming, livestock and nursery activities in the Pleasant Ridge neighborhood.

About five years ago he bought a large farm near Mt. Erie and moved to that locality, where he was active in farming and livestock raising until his health failed him about a year ago. He was ambitious and industrious and was one of the substantial citizens of his community.

He was united in marriage with Jessie Windland, June 21, 1921. Four children were born to this union, one little son having died in infancy. He is survived by his faithful companion; one son, John, of Cisne; two daughters, Wava Helene and Lola, both at home; an aged step-mother, and many other relatives, friends and acquaintances who will mourn his passing.

Funeral services were conducted from the Oak Valley Church at two o’clock Saturday afternoon by Elder W.D. Crippin. Interment was in the Oak Valley Cemetery.
