John Alfred Kiger, son of George B. and Hannah Kiger, was born in Whitzel County, West Va., March 3, 1864, being the last living member of a family of ten children. On December 22nd, 1889, he was united in marriage with Emma Sutter(Suta?).  To this union ten children were born. Two sons and two daughters preceded him in death, also his companion passed away March 19, 1945.

In 1907 the family moved to Wayne County and located just north of Johnsonville where the parents spent the remainder spent the remainder of their lives. In 1922 he and Mrs. Kiger united with the Methodist Church in Johnsonville where they retained their membership. On June 9th, 1945, he suffered a nervous breakdown from which he never recovered. He passed away at 1:25 a.m., Sept. 25th, 1945 at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 22 days.

Surviving are four sons, namely Clarence of Cisne, Earl of Fairbury, Foster and Roy of Johnsonville. Two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Basley of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Alice Watson of Cisne; twenty-four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, three grandchildren having preceded him in death. One grandson, Leonard Kiger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kiger…….(remainder missing)
