Martha M., daughter of M. C. and Eliza Dalton, was born January 23rd, 1862, in Ohio county, Kentucky., and departed this life Thursday morning, March 20, in the home of her daughter, Mrs.  Wilbert Whitson, in Berry township, age 85 years, 2 months and 27 days.

She was converted and united with the Missionary Baptist church at Dickeyville early in life and later transferred her church membership to the Sims Missionary Baptist church of which she remained a faithful member.

She was united in marriage to Henry Meyers about 1879. To this union nine children were born. One son, Richard Roscoe, died in infancy.  Her husband preceded her in death April, 1908.  She was united in marriage to John S. Jones August, 1917, who preceded her in death in May, 1928.  She spent all her life in Wayne County except the first few years of childhood which she spent in Kentucky with her parents.

She is survived by five sons; John M. of Gays,  Walter R. of Montrose, Jacob A., James H. and Fred D., all of near Wayne City; three daughters, Mrs. Charles Decker, near Wayne City; Mrs. Wilbert Whitson, near Cisne; and Mrs. Orin H. Young, of Lawrenceville; 28 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers, I. J. Dalton, Orchardville, Willliam A. Dalton, of Mendota, Ill, and 1 sister Mrs. Nan Shreve, near Cisne.
