Well-Known Fairfield Resident,
Son of the Late Judge Jacob R. Creighton,
Had Heart Attack

John M. Creighton, forty-four, well-known Fairfield resident, son of Mrs. Lucreta [sic] Creighton, of Los Angeles, Calif., and the late Judge Jacob R. Creighton, of Fairfield, passed away suddenly at the Creighton home on West Main street here shortly after noon Tuesday, following a heart attack.

Had Not Been Well

Mr. Creighton had not been in the best of health for the past few months and had been under doctor's care.  He had, however, continued his work and had been uptown that morning.  About twelve fifteen o'clock Tuesday afternoon, while visiting at the Elks lodge here, he was stricken seriously ill and was taken to his home.  Dr. D. A. Gershenson was called, but he died fifteen minutes later, at twelve forty-five o'clock, shortly after the doctor arrived.  Death was attributed to angina pectoris.  He was not known to have had the serious heart ailment.

The remains were removed to the Nale funeral home here.  Funeral services will be conducted from the First M. E. Church Friday afternoon at two o'clock by Dr. Cameron Harmon.  Burial will be in the Maple Hill cemetery.

Was W. P. A. Finance Officer

Mr. Creighton had been employed the past several years as area finance officer for the Works Progress Administration in Southern Illinois and was well known in neighboring counties.

He was born in Wayne county, attended school here, and later completed his scholastic education at the University of Illinois.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Madeline Creighton; his mother, a sister, Mrs. Mary Creighton-Elgin and one brother, Edward Creighton, of Los Angeles, Calif.  Mrs. Creighton and Mrs. Elgin will arrive Thursday from California.
