Lifelong Fairfield Woman
Mrs. John Farris, 72,
Succumbs

Mrs. Mabel A. Farris, 72, the wife of John Farris of Fairfield, retired farmer and timber man, died at 2:05 p.m. Monday in Wayfair Nursing Home.

Mrs Farris had been a patient in Fairfield Memorial Hospital and the nursing home since October suffering from a malignancy.

She was a housewife.

Funeral Services

Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday (today) at Nales Funeral Home, with Bro. Carroll Kakac officiating.  Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Farris was born in Wayne County Jan. 14, 1901, the daughter of James and Elizabeth (Gray) Creighton.  She grew up in the northeast part of the county.

On Sept. 14, 1920, she married John Farris and for years they lived north of Fairfield.  Mr. Farris farmed and also served on the Fairfield city police force in 1952.

She was a 50-year member of the First Christian Church.

The Survivors

Surviving are her husband, John; two sons, James, of Fairfield; and John Hayward, of Olney;  three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren;  two step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren;  a brother, Earl A. Creighton, of Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Pauline) O'Malley and Mrs. James (Alice) Gaither, both of Fairfield, and two nephews.
