OBITUARY
  Wayne County Press Following several months of poor health, Mrs. Lawrence Bullard died at her homein Indian Prairie Township at 8:45 Saturday evening, Aug. 4th, 1928. She has been in declining health for some time and about two months ago she was taken to the Olney Sanitarium. After a careful diagnosis of her case, little or no encouragement was given for her recovery. Still hoping to find relief she was taken to the Mt. Vernon Hospital, where she underwent an operation and again no encouragement for recovery was given. She recovered sufficiently however from the effect of the operation that she was able to return home. Her life slowly ebbed away after much suffering.

Funeral services were conducted from the Johnsonville M.E. Church, Monday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock by Rev. Roy Kessel. Interment was in the Johnsonville cemetery.

Emma, daughter of John D. and Lovey E. Withrow was born near Princeton, Indiana, October 8, 1861. Early in life she removed to Wayne County where she has made her home since. She was united in marriage with Lawrence Bullard October 25, 1883. Nine children were born to this union, one of whom died in infancy. She was converted and united with the Johnsonville Free Will Baptist Church of which she has always been a faithful member. She died at her home North of Johnsonville, age sixty-six years nine months and twenty seven days. She is survived by her companion, eight children; Harvey and Fred, of Rinard, John L. of Cisne, Bessie of Franklin, Indiana, Edward, Virgil and Rhoda, Johnsonville, and Irene of Flora, three sisters, Sabia Coon, of Paris, Jane Riley, of Denison, Iowa and Nellie Hite of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Edward Withrow of Sumner, twenty-five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
