Alice Ann Barnard

Alice Ann, youngest daughter of Richard and Mary Daisy was born in Wayne county, September 9, 1864.  She grew to womanhood and spent the greater part of her life in and near the community of her birth.

At an early age she professed her faith in Christ and united with the General Baptist church at Bailey, where she has always been a faithful and devoted member.  For many years she has been afflicted with total blindness but she continued to keep her own home, being a neat and careful housewife in spite of her affliction, which she bore with great patience and was always kind and considerate of others especially of her husband, who like herself was totally blind.

She was united in marriage with Weaver H. Barnard in June, 1890.  Eight children were born to this union, three of whom died in infancy.  For several weeks she had been failing in health and the end came peacefully at her home in Sims, at noon, March 8, 1934, aged 69 years, five months and 26 days.  She is survived by her aged husband,  two sons, Henry of Chenoa and Earl of Sims, three daughters, Irene Lamb and Gertrude Jones both of Sims and Fannie Reed of near Fairfield, twelve grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and many dear friends who will mourn her death.

Funeral services were conducted from the Bailey church Saturday morning by Rev. John Rush.  Interment was in the old Bailey cemetery.
