Charles Walker

Services for Charles Walker, a retired farmer who lived in the Covington neighborhood were held Wednesday at Dixon & Johnson Funeral Home.

Elder Russell Blackford officiated and burial was in Bovee cemetery.

Broke his hip

Mr. Walker died Sunday in the Olney Hospital.  He had been in good health until he suffered a fall at his home and broke his hip.  He spent most of his life northwest of Boyleston in the Covington neighborhood.

He was born in Berry Township in Wayne County May 1, 1879, the son of Henry and Mary Frances (Simms) Walker.

On Jan 4, 1911, he was married to Cora E. Pike, who survives.

He was a member of the RLDS Church in Fairfield.

Surviving

Surviving are one son, Charles T., of the covington area: six daughters, Mrs. Glen (Edna) Legg, Ferne Mathews, Mrs. James (Louise) Legg and Mrs. Clarence (Gladys) Windland, all of Fairfield; Mrs. Bill (Frances) White, of Cisne; Mrs. Bill (Hesper) Folger, of New Carlisle, Ind; 28 grandchildren;  58 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Preceding him in death were two sons and his parents.

He also reared in his home a granddaughter, Mrs. Earl (Monzell) Withrow and a great-granddaughter, Bonne, at home.
