OBITUARY

ROSA  B.  WALLER

Rosa B. Waller, daughter of Peter and Mary Rickard was born in Mason County, West Virginia October 16, 1861 and departed this life at the home of a neighbor, Holly Majors,  Saturday morning, May 22, 1t the age of 81 years, seven months and six days.

She had been taken to Mr. Majors’ because her daughter, Mrs. C.A. Courtright had been called to the Brokaw Hospital in Bloomington where her son is a pneumonia patient.

She was united in marriage with George Waller, Dec. 24, 1879. To this union six children were born – three boys and three girls, namely: Merlon, now of San Francisco; Luther, of Detroit, Arkansas, a son who died in infancy, Cora, Mary and Addie the last two of whom preceded their mother in death.

Her companion and five of her brothers, Henry, John, Merton, Monroe, and William and one sister Maggie also preceded her in death. She was converted and united with the General Baptist church in 1888 and remained a faithful member until death. She lived in Illinois from the time she came to the state with her parents at the age of thirteen with the exception of twenty years in Arkansas.

She is survived by the two sons Merlon and Luther, her daughter Cora who so tenderly cared for her mother during her declining days, four brothers, Adam of Minnesota; David of Ohio; Homer R. of St. Louis, Ben R. of Versailles, Mo.; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends.

Luther Rickard started from DeWitt to be at the funeral, but could not get across some high water and had to return home. A brother in Missouri also could not come on account of high water. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kisner of Jacksonville came for the funeral. Mrs. Kisner is a granddaughter of Mrs. Waller.

Funeral services were conducted from the Geff M.E. Church Monday afternoon by Rev. J.F. Samford. Interment was in the Buckeye cemetery.
