OBITUARY

April 1945

MINNIE B. (LeCROY) SIMMS

Mrs. Minnie B. Simms (nee Minnie B. LeCroy), daughter of William and Pheraba Young Le Croy, was born March 5, 1873 near Cisne, Wayne County, Illinois and passed away in St. Louis, Mo., April 6, 1945

She attended school in her neighborhood and completed the eighth grade course. Early in life she gave her heart to God and united with the Victory General Baptist church near her home. On June 19, 1895 she married Wesley Simms and located in Fairfield, where her four children were born. About 1907 she with her family moved to St. Louis, Mo. where she lived until her demise. After locating in St. Louis, she united with the Methodist church there.

She leaves to mourn her going, two daughters, Mrs. Glen Weigman, St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Mabel Mather, New York;  two sons, William and Carroll Simms, both of St. Louis; seven grandchildren, Mrs. Myra Lee Miller, David Weigman, Carol Jean Mather, William Mather, Gail Simms, Carroll Jr. Sims, and Sally Lou Sims. Two sisters, Mrs. Kate Heidinger of Peoria, Ill., and Mrs. Elma Sons Rinard, Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers, Mr. Fred LeCroy of Cisne, and Dr. Wm. E. LeCroy, of this city; three aunts, Mrs. Etta McKitrick of Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. Amelia Withrow of Wayne City, and Mrs. Laura Withrow of Rolla, Kansas. One uncle, Sam Young of Fairfield; two daughters-in-law; two sons-in-law, and other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the Dixon-Crippin Chapel, Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock by Rev. C.L. Peterson, pastor of the 1st Methodist church of this city, Interment was in Maple Hill cemetery.
