MRS. (MYRTA) CISNE
DIES  FROM STROKE OF APOPLEXY

Aged Cisne Resident  Passes Away
at Her Home  in Cisne
After a Very Short Illness

Mrs. Myrta Cisne, wife of J.G. Cisne, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 12 at her home in Cisne after suffering a stroke of apoplexy three days previous.

Early Saturday morning, July 9, Mrs. Cisne accompanied her husband and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Duke to Flora, where Mr. and Mrs. Duke took the train for their home in Springfield. Before returning to their home, Mr. and Mrs. Cisne called at the home of Mrs. Cisne’s sister, Mrs. Fred Milner.

She was in unusual good spirits that morning and had ezpressed herself as feeling better than she had felt for some time. In a few minutes after arriving at the home of her sister she was stricken with apoplexy and lapsed into a state of come from which she never regained consciousness.

The following Sunday morning she was removed to her home in Cisne where she died at 2:45 o’clock, Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services were conducted from the Cisne Christian church, Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock by the pastor, Elder P.M. Durham, of Albion, assisted by Elder C.L. Wood, of Keenes. The burial was in the Cisne cemetery.

Myrtle Liona, eldest daughter of Francis M. and Catherine C. Murphy, was born at the old home in the vicinity of the Buckeye church, on February 27, 1868 and passed to her eternal home, Tuesday afternoon, July 12, 1932, at the age of 64 years, 4 months and 15 days. Here she grew to young womanhood, assisting in the care of younger brothers and sisters until she reached the age of seventeen when she began teaching in the public schools--a work for which she was especially well adapted, and she enjoyed the reputation of being one of the most efficient teachers of the county. She followed this calling for fifteen years and many of our citizens have pleasant memories of their school days under her gentle guidance.

On May 3, 1891, she was united in the holy bands of wedlock with Jonah G. Cisne and into this union was born a daughter, Edna Myrhl, now the wife of Warren D. Crippin, of Cisne.

In August of 1884 she united with the Christian church and was baptized during the ministry of the late Elder J.S. Rose and to this church she remained faithful until death. Thus she was a follower of her Savior for forty eight years.  Her whole life seemed filled with an ernest desire to see the work of the church go forward. She was closely identified with all the activities of the Cisne Christian church, being one of the trustees of the church, president of the Ladies Aid for many years, and a life long teacher in the Sunday School. Her greatest desire was to see the remodeling of the church in the near future and into this work she had thrown her greatest effort. Besides her work in the home and the church, Mrs. Cisne was ever ready to help in time of sickness and distress in the neighborhood and has gone to assist where others feared to go.

She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and the Woman’s Club. Besides fer grieving husband and daughter, Edna,  she leaves three cherished granddaughters, Julianna, Mary Liona and Alice Myrhl Crippin,  two sisters, Mrs. Clara Milner, of Flora and Mrs. Cleo Lane and one brother, Cloyd Murphy, both of Cisne and many relatives and friends who are grieved because of her passing. Six brothers and two sisters have preceded her in death.

Servant of God, well done,
Thy glorious warfare past,
The battle is fought, the victory won
And thou art crowned at last.
