MERL CORNELIUS OBRECHT
IN LOVING MEMORY

A beloved brother and dear son, a kind and lovable friend has finished the life God allotted him and has passed to his eternal reward.

Merl Cornelius Obrecht, son of Albert and Eva Obrecht, was born June 10, 1916, about two miles east of Cisne, Ill. Merl passed away in the Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Sunday night, Nov. 11, 1945, following a prolonged illness. The largest portion of his life he lived on his parents farm 1/2 mile west of Enterprise. He graduated from Fairfield Community High School in 1935.

He was one of the first boys of his community to be inducted into the Armed Services of his country. At the time of his induction he was employed at the Cisne State Bank.

In early childhood he was converted under the preaching of Rev. George Goeker. He was a loyal member of the Ebenezer Evangelical Church in Enterprise and attended its services whenever possible. He was a kind and likable person, a good neighbor and friend. He will be greatly missed and his going from us will leave a vacancy that cannot be filled.

Two brothers, Kenneth and Gerald, and a sister Marjorie Ann mourn the passing of a dear brother, but rejoice as they remember his courageous faith even to the end.

Besides his family he leaves fond memories of a life well lived to his two grandmothers, Mrs. Lydia Trotter and Mrs. Lena Obrecht, and a host of near less relatives and friends.
