OBITUARY

April 1945

LUCY JANE (McCORMICK) BRADLEY

Lucy Jane, daughter of James D. and Elizabeth M. McCormick, was born in Wayne County, Illinois, on June 27, 1870, and lived her entire life in this community. She departed this life April 24, 1945, at the age of 74 years, 9 months and 27 days.

In early years she professed faith in Christ, becoming a member of Trinity Methodist Church where her membership remained until her death. As long as her health permitted, she greatly enjoyed attending church services and thereafter had a keen appreciation of church fellowship. She was an ardent Christian and through the years her nearness to God enabled her to bear all of life’s problems with a beautiful spirit, her consecrated life being an inspiration to all who knew her.

On July 19, 1893, she was united in marriage with Henry Bradley with whom she celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary two years ago, before he preceded her in death on February 15, 1944. To this union were born eight children, two of whom are deceased: Rosa, who died in infancy and Bertha on March 18, 1936. She is survived by Julia and George Bradley of Cisne, Ill.; Mrs. Nell Thomson of St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Mary Garrett of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Goldie Rutter of Lombard, Ill.; Mrs. Ruby Guyotte of Washington, D.C., and twelve grandchildren.

She was deeply loved by her family and will be sadly missed by them and a host of relatives, neighbors, and friends.

Dearest Mother, you have left us
And our hearts are sad and lone,
For without your cheering presence
Home no more is “Home Sweet Home.”

So farewell to you, Dear Mother,
Till the cares of life are past,
Til we cross death’s chilly waters
And are anchored safe at last.

Then we hope to meet you yonder,
In that bright celestial home,
Where they know not pain nor sorrow,
And where death can never come.

Card of Thanks
We wish to express sincere appreciation and thanks to our many kind neighbors and friends during the illness and death of our beloved Mother and Grandmother.
