Barkley Marion Brock was born April 5th, 1854 on a farm near Cisne, Illinois and died in Cisne, July 11th, 1917.

He was the oldest child of Isaac T. and Roxciana Brock.  He was united in marriage to Mary Catherine Cisne, February 10th, 1876 to which union five children were born.

He united with the Church of Cisne at Pleasant Grove, April 2nd (----) placed his membership with the Cisne church December, 30th (----)

He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, three sons, D. D. Brock, Oliver E. and Fred B. Brock, one daughter, Mrs. Bertha Burton; Isaac Glenn, the youngest child dying August 9th, 1916, his aged mother, three brothers and four sisters and ten grand children.

His death was quite a shock to this community being caused by a ruptured blood vessel.  He had served his town as mayor and his townsmen honored him and every business house closed their doors during the hour of the funeral.  Being born and reared in this vicinity he was well know and well liked.

The funeral was held in the Christian church, conducted by F. M. Morgan his pastor, assisted by Rev. Winingar, pastor of the M. E. church and Eld. D. Logan, a retired Christian minister of Jeffersonville, Ill.  A large concourse of friends gathered to pay their past respects to his mortal remains.  Thus the earthly career of one of our most esteemed citizens closes.
