WILBUR D. "WIB" LASATER
DIES UNEXPECTEDLY

Well-Known Barnhill Mail Carrier
Suffered Heart Attack and
Died An Hour Later

Wayne county lost one of its best-known residents Thursday evening when Wilbur D. "Wib" Lasater, 53, suffered a heart attack at his home in Barnhill and passed away an hour later. Mr. Lasater had not been in the best of health for some time, but was not known to be suffering with a serious heart condition.

He had made his trip that day on his rural mail route and was working at the barn near his home about six o'clock in the evening when stricken. He went to the house, where he passed away an hour later, shortly after Dr. Donald B. Frankel arrived.

Funeral Sunday

Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church at two o'clock Sunday afternoon by Dr. Cameron Harmon of Lawrenceville, and burial was in the Maple Hill cemetery here.

Wilbur Deaton Lasater was born near Barnhill on January 11, 1890, son of James M. and Margaret E. Lasater. On August 21st 1911 he was married to Clara Wilson and to this union two sons were born. Was Active Mason Mr. Lasater had spent practically all of his life near the place of his birth.

He was an active member of all the Fairfield Masonic organizations and took much interest in the work of the lodge. He has served many years as rural mail carrier in the same community.

He is survived by his widow, two sons, Wilson in the army in the southwest Pacific; Robert in Chicago; his aged mother, Mrs. J.M. Lasater, of St. Louis; one sister, Mrs. M. L. Calkin, of St. Louis; a half-sister, Mrs. Stella Seifred, of Mt. Vernon; three brothers, William of Fairfield, Lynn, of New York City and Lee Lasater of Chicago.
