OBITUARY

June 1926

SARAH JANE (YOUNG) DAISY

Sarah Jane Young, daughter of Ewing and Emily Young, was born April 22, 1848, 7 miles west of Fairfield, Illinois; died June 13, 1926 in Fairfield, Illinois, age 78 years, 1 month and 21 days.

On December 25, 1866 she was united in marriage to George T.(H.) Daisy by Rev. James Johnson in Fairfield, Illinois, pastor of the M.E. church. At the age of 16, she was converted in the old Bethel M.E. Church, 3 miles west of Fairfield and joined the Mt. Olive M.E. church near her father’s home and later years moved her membership to the First M.E. church in Fairfield where she resided and remained a faithful Christian member until her death, telling her loved ones just before she passed away that she was ready to go to her heavenly home and her regrets were leaving George alone. If she had lived until December 25, 1926, they would have been married 60 years.

She was a wonderful woman always considerate of others and doing good. Not being blessed with any children of her own she gave a home to two orphan boys, James Craven and Andy Daisy and being a devoted mother and rearing to manhood. She was a devoted wife and mother and her friends only could be counted by the number who knew her. She was widely known and will be sadly missed by her many friends but most by her lonely husband. She leaves to mourn her demise, three sisters namely: Mrs. L.T. Hughes of Moorehouse, MO., Mrs. J.S. Baldwin, of Quincy, Ill., and Mrs. B.F. Sons, of near Fairfield, Ill., and one brother, Robert E. Young of near Fairfield, Illinois the two boys she raised and quite a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
