MRS. OLIVE FUNKHOUSER
DIES IN PORTLAND

Sister of Hon. Thomas H. Creighton
Laid to Rest in Maple Hill Cemetery
Sunday Afternoon

Mrs. Olive C. Funkhouser, sister of Hon. T. H. Creighton of this city, passed away Monday, October 19th, at her home in Portland, Oregon.  She had been in failing health for some time.

The remains arrived in Fairfield Saturday morning and were kept at the Creighton home until two o'clock Sunday afternoon when funeral services were conducted at the First Methodist church by Dr. Albert R. Ransom.   Burial was in the Maple Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Funkhouser, many years ago made her home in Fairfield, but she has spent the past several years in the West.

Olive C. Funkhouser, daughter of Daniel J. and Betsy Creighton, was born in Wayne county, Illinois, January 3, 1860; died in Portland, Oregon October 19, 1936, aged 76 years, 9 months and 16 days.  In 1888 she was married to Sherman C. Funkhouser.  Two daughters were born to this union, Effie and Inez.  Her husband died October 15, 1928.  After her husband's death she made her home with her daughter Effie in Portland   She was reared in a Christian home and early in life joined the Methodist Episcopal church at old Ebenezer, the church of which her mother was for sixty years a member and her father for twenty-five years a class leader.  Although she moved from the Ebenezer neighborhood after her marriage, she retained her membership in the old church she loved so well.

Ollie, as she was familiarly called by her relatives and friends, was a quiet unassuming woman.  Loyal to her church, her family, her friends and her principles, ever ready to help to the utmost of her ability where help was needed, her life exemplified the true Christian virtues of fidelity, charity, and service.

She leaves her daughter Effie, now Mrs. Emry Fair, of Portland; Inez, now Mrs. Earl Wood, of Chicago, her brother, Thos. H. Creighton, of Fairfield, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Attending the funeral from a distance were: Thos. H. Creighton, Jr. from Washington, D.C., Mrs Emry Fair from Portland, Oregon, and Mr. and Mrs._______.
