WILLIAM H DURHAM was born in Columbiana County., Ohio April 6th, 1829, and departed this life Jan 29, 1907, at him home near Johnsonville age 77 years, 9 months and 23 days.

He came to Illinois with his father when quite young and settled in White County for a while.  He was married to Miss Nancy Cates in the year of 1848.  To this union one daughter was born and in 1851 his wife died and later the daughter.  He afterwards married Miss Hester M Pool, in Wayne County, May 2, 1855, and making this county him home.  To this union ten children were born, six daughters and four sons.  The widow, five daughters and three sons survive him.  One daughter and one son have preceded him to the better world.

He united with the Christian church at White county, andafter moving to Wayne county changed his membership to the Christian Church at Cisne.  A good husband, loving father, good citizen and a true Christian gentleman has gone, who will be sadly missed by his family and his neighbors and many friends who know him so well.

Funeral services were conducted by the Masonic lodge of whic he had been a member for forty years.  The remains were laid to rest in the Cates Cemetery Wednesday. Jan. 30, 1907.
