RAY SHELTON
WORLD WAR VETERAN
PASSES AWAY

Ray Shelton, forty-eight, well-known World War veteran in Wayne county, passed away Friday night in the veteran's hospital at Jefferson Barracks, Mo.  He had been ill with heart trouble and was taken to the hospital from his home in Elm River township about a week ago.

Funeral services were conducted at two o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Mt. Erie Methodist church.  Burial was in the Mt. Erie cemetery.

Mr. Shelton had an unusual record for service in the World War, having gone to France with General Pershing in the first contingent that left America.  He was seriously wounded on February 26th, 1918 and finally recovered in time to resume active service before the war was over.
