Funeral held Sunday

Lewis F. Dawson, 68, well-known Wayne City farmer, died at 2:45 Friday afternoon at Memorial hospital from cancer.

Mr. Dawson, a brother of Mrs. Henry Arney and Mrs. Elmer Shehorn, of this city, had been in ill health for three years, since suffering a stroke.  He was hospitalized for five weeks before his death and his condition had been critical for two weeks.

Rites Held Sunday

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Bailey General Baptist Church north of Wayne City, with Rev. Dwight Rogers and Rev. Jesse Miller officiating. Interment was in Bailey cemetery. The Richardson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dawson was born in Wayne county October 22nd, 1890, the son of Emmitt and Carrie Harlan Dawson.

He was a member of the Bailey General Baptist church.

In 1912 he was married to Louella Barnard and she preceded him in death August 28th, 1952. On Aug 6th, 1953, he was married to Gertie Stevens.

Surviving are his wife; a foster son, Charles Roach, of Xenia; a stepdaughter, Writha Gray, of Mt. Vernon; one grandchild; a brother, Amos Dawson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and four sisters, Mrs. Lou Hicks, of Decatur; Mrs. Irene Arney, of Chicago; and Mr. Henry Arney and Mrs. Elmer Shehorn, of Fairfield.
