DIES IN ARMY HOSPITAL

Son of Late Sen. Charles L. Wood
of Keenes
Had Been Ill Long Time

Ross O. Wood, 51, of Keenes, died Wednesday evening, June 1st, at a veterans' hospital in Waukesha, Wisconsin.  A veteran of world War I, he was a son of the late Senator Charles L. Wood, of Keenes.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Christian Church in Keenes by Elder Warren Crippin.  Burial was in the Thomason cemetery in Wayne City, with the American Legion in charge.

Ross O., son of Senator Charles L. and Estie Lane Wood, was born near Keenes, September 21, 1896. His life had been spent in the vicinity of his birth, where he was well known and respected.

He was united in marriage with Goldie Fleming, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Ellias B. (Nancy Jane) Fleming, June 1st, 1912.  Four children were born to this union, the eldest having died in infancy.

He confessed his faith in Christ under the ministry of Elder O. V. Wilkison, about twenty-five years ago, and united with the Keenes Christian church.

He served his country in the armed forces during World War I, as a member of Company D., 41st Infantry, and was honorably discharged at the close of the war.  He was a member of the American Legion, Anthony Wayne Post Number 176, of Fairfield.

For several years he was an employee of the Standard Oil Company, being in charge of the bulk distributing plant at Wayne City.

Surviving are his companion; two sons, Blythe A., of Wayne City, and Fay C., of Dodge City, Kansas; one daughter, Mrs Lester D. Bullard, of Keenes; six grandchildren, Donnie A., Brenda DeNiele and Terry Douglas Wood, Mary Lou and Marty Ross Bullard and Welby Wynn Wood; two brothers, Dewey, of Wayne City and William, of Vandalia.

His parents, two brothers, Hardy V., and Connie O., and two sisters, Lottie M., and Goldie, preceded him in death.
