Hold Rites For
Fay C. Wood
Was a Native of Keenes

Mass of Christian burial for Fay C. Wood, 75, was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church in Enid, Okla., with the Rev. Alan Loth Officiating.

The graveside service was held at 4 p.m. in Forest Park Cemetery, Anthony, Kansas with Rev. Marvin Goodpasture officiating.  Arrangements were under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Born at Keenes

He was born Jan. 27, 1921 at Keenes to Ross and Goldia Fleming Wood and died Thursday July 11, 1996, in St. Mary's Mercy Hospital in Enid, Okla, following a period of ill health.

He was a brother to the late Blythe Woodof Wayne City.

He graduated from the Wayne City High School in 1939, and later attended Southern Illinois University.  He served in the Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946.  He moved to Enid in 1964 and married Evelyn Franklin in 1966.

In Oil Business

He was in the oil field business all of his life, working for Texaco for 31 years.  He worked in the drilling and production department and later as superintendent in drilling operations. In 1977 he started his own business Wood Production.

He was a member of St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church, Elks Lodge, American legion, and V.F.W.

The Survivors

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; one son, Welby Wood, of San Antonio, Tex; ;one daughter, Karen Ryan, of Anthony, Kansas; one sister, Fern Bullard, of Joliet; three grandsons; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his  parents and two brothers.
