Xenia Native Dies In West; Services Held At Sterling
Virgil LeRoy Griffith, 67, of Nowata, Okla., died Sunday, Dec. 10, 1995 at
Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Okla.

He was a native of Xenia.

Mr. Griffith was employed for 21 years with Northwestern Steel & Wire Company at Sterling, Ill.

Funeral rites will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday from the Blair Funeral Home in Sterling, with burial in Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation at the funeral home from 6 to 8 Thursday evening (tonight).

He was born at Xenia Feb. 2, 1928, the son of William C. and Nellie Griffith.

Mr. Griffith married Laura Akes, who preceded him in death.  Later in 1971 he was married to Helen Becorest.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Preceding him in death were his first wife; one son, one brother and one sister.

Surviving are his wife, Helen; one son Terry, of Sterling; a stepson, James Goodson, of Arvada, Colo.; one daughter, Karen Medina, of Rock Falls; one stepdaughter, Lind a Baughman, of Topeka, Kans.; four brothers, Ray Griffith, of Salem; Harold Griffith, of Xenia; Vernon Griffith, of Sterling; and Dewey Griffith, of Xenia, three sisters, Ruby Glass, of Flora; Dorothy Fatherly, of Clinton; and Velma Laue, of Altamont; nine grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
