Sister Of Fairfield Residents Dies At Rockford; Set Rites

Mrs. Lola G. Hammil, 72, of Mt. Morris, died Monday Dec. 4, 1995, at Rockford Memorial Hospital.

She had resided in the Mt. Morris area for the past 36 years, where she worked for Pinecrest Manor as a housekeeper for 19 years.  She was also a volunteer at Lifeline in Oregon, Ill.

Mrs. Hammil was a sister of Donald Wheat, Lois Atteberry, Peggy Farmer and Jewel Merrick, all of Fairfield.

Funeral rites will be at 2 p.m. Friday from Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Morris, with Rev. Phil Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Mt. Morris. Visitation is 6 to 8 Thursday evening (tonight) at the Farrell-Holland Funeral Home in Oregon, Ill.

She was born in Leeds, Ill., April 24, 1923, the daughter of James and Ina McCormick Wheat.

On Mar. 11, 1944, in Effingham, she was married to Ernest Hammil.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Mt. Morris and served on the Chancel and Altar Society and the Esther Group

Surviving are her husband; two sons, Harold Hammil, of Belleview, Fla.; and Carl Hammil, of Mt. Morris; one daughter, Mrs. Douglas (Darlene) Raney, of Mt. Morris; one brother Donald Wheat, of Fairfield; three sisters, Lois Atteberry, Peggy Farmer and Jewel Merrick, all of Fairfield; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
