John M. Lawler, Of Ridgway, Dies; Brother Of Fairfield Man

John M. Lawler, 75, of Ridgway, died at 1:42 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 1996, at Farrell Hospital in Eldorado.

Mr. Lawler, a retired farmer, had been in declining health.

He was a brother of Martin Lawler, of Fairfield.

Funeral rites will be at 10 a.m. Friday from St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ridgway, with Rev. Tom Stout and Rev. Carl Scherer officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Ridgway. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m.  Thursday (tonight) at the Edwards Funeral Home in Ridgway. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m.

He was born at Ridgway Feb. 21, 1921, the son of Thomas R. and Mary Berrigan Lawler.

On Feb. 11, 1947, he was married to Bernice McGuire.

Mr. Lawler was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are his wife; four sons, Robert R., of Marion; Marion J., of McLeansboro; James E., of Ridgway; and John Patrick, of Ridgway; one daughter, Carolyn Jones, of Ridgway; three brothers, Steven Lawler, of Peoria; Martin J. Lawler, of Fairfield; and Richard J. Lawler, of Lebanon; one sister, Anna Mary Kaufman, of Ridgway; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
