Mrs. Florence A. Stroud, 90, of Mt. Vernon, died at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 1996, at the home of a daughter.

She worked at the Mt. Vernon Garment Factory for 33 years. Mrs. Stroud was a native of Sims.

Funeral rites were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the Hughey Funeral Home, with Rev. Everett Lemay officiating. Interment was in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held at Hughey's Monday, evening.

She was born at Sims Sept. 13, 1905, the daughter of Samuel S. and Florence Baker Tolbert.

On Oct. 25, 1924, in Lawrenceville, she was married to Clarence E. Stroud. He passed away in 1978.  Also preceding her in death were her parents, seven brothers, eight sisters and one grandson.

She was a
member of the Logan Street Baptist Church and the Royal Neighbors of America.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. David (Pat) Hanes, of Mt. Vernon; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephew.
