Nephew Of  Robert Hinman Dies; Lived At Mt. Vernon

James L. Hinman, 52, of Mt. Vernon, died at 12:15 p.m. Thursday May 30, 1996, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Hinman, a nephew of Robert Hinman here, was general manager of Tri-County Electric out of Mt. Vernon and an officeholder of Soyland Power Cooperative.

A native of Evansville, Ind. where he was born Mar. 2, 1944, the son of James A. and Opaline M. Clark Hinman,  Mr. Hinman was a Flora High School graduate in 1962.

Funeral rites were conducted Sunday afternoon from the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon, with Rev. Dr. Paul K. Schartzkopf officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Vernon. The Hughey Funeral Home was in, charge of arrangements.

He had served on the Boatmen's Bank board, the Rend Lake College board and was a past president of Rotary. In 1995,  Hinman was chosen as Citizen of the Year by the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce.

He was married to Elizabeth Buhner, in 1976. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

His father and grandparents preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, James R. Hinman and Stephen E Hinman, both at home; one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Hinman, at home; his mother, Opaline Hinman, of Flora; two brothers, Dennis Hinman of Woodbridge, Va; and Donald Hinman, of Henderson, Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. Bud (Linda) Lents, of Flora; and Mrs. Jerry (Deborah) Murbarger, of Oreana; and several nieces and nephews.
