Former Cisne Businessman Dies; Rites On Thursday

Former Cisne businessman, Evert Ellis, 88, Rt. 1, Cisne, died at 7:05 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 1984, at Richland Memorial Hospital, Olney, from infirmities of (can't read).

Mr. Ellis formerly owned and operated the Cisne and Johnsonville Feed Mills during the 1930s until he himself was in his 70s. Prior to that time, he owned and operated a trucking business. Mr. Ellis was taken to the hospital early yesterday morning, the Press was told.

Services Thursday

Funeral services will be held at 1.30 p.m. Thursday at Hosselton Funeral Home, of Cisne, with Rev. Dean Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Johnsonville Cemetery at Johnsonville.

Visitation will be conducted from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Cisne.

Born in Indian Prairie township Wayne County, Aug. 31, 1896, Mr. Ellis was the son of Thomas and Mattie (Bowden) Ellis.

He was wed to the former Clela Hilliard in Fairfield Dec. 25, 1918. Mr. Ellis followed the Methodist faith.

The Survivors

Survivors include his wife, Clela Ellis, of Cisne, one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Maurine) Harrell, of Cisne; a brother, Lowery Ellis, of Cisne; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Hills, of Bridgeport; and one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by one son; two half-sisters and one half-brother.
