Mrs. Maxine Stonecipher, 70, Wayne County Native, Dies

Services were held last weekend for Maxine H. Stonecipher, 70, of Champaign, a Wayne County native, who died at 10:20 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 26, 1989 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. The Owens Funeral Home in Champaign was in charge of arrangements. The body was cremated.

Mrs. Stonecipher was born Oct. 16, 1918 in Sims, the daughter of Thomas and Bertha Richards. She was a graduate of Wayne City High School.

On Dec. 23, 1940 she married Jesse Stonecipher in St. Louis.

She received a bachelor's degree in home economics from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and Vaught home economics for a time at Pinckneyville High School. She was an assistant Champaign County home extension adviser and a retired real estate salesperson.

Survivors include a son, Jerre of Mahornet, Ill.; a brother, Robert Richards of Texas; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
