Norman Michels, Retired Champ Machinist, Dies

Norman Michels, 72, of Fairfield, a retired Champion Lab machinist died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday Sept. 7, 1985, at Marion V. A. Hospital, Marion.

Mr. Michels was in ill health for sometime.

Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday at N@le's Funeral Home with Rev. David Logsdon and Rev. Roger Ellsworth officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held for family and friends from 6-9 p.m.  Monday (tonight).

A native of Edwards County. Mr. Michels was born Aug. 16, 1913, the son of Harvey and Viola Stafford Michels.

He served in World War II in the U. S. Armed Forces.

Mr. Michels was married to the former Louella Owen.

He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Louella Michels, of Fairfield, one son, Harvey Michels, of Austin, Tex.; two
step-daughters, Mrs. Carl (Nancy) Paul, of Geff; and Mrs. Rebecca Smith, of Bakersfield, Calif.; one step-son, Terry Lee Carter, of Streator; and two grandchildren; six step-grandchildren and 16 step-great-grandchildren.
