Lowell A. Towns, Retired Cisne Farmer, Dies

Lowell A. Towns, 70, a retired Cisne farmer, died unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 1985, at Clay County Hospital in Flora.

Mr. Towns was stricken with chest pains at his home and taken to the hospital, where he died a short time later, the Press was told.

Funeral services are planned for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at H@sselton Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Wolford officiating. Interment will follow in Cisne cemetery.  Friends and family may call for visitation at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m.  Friday.

Mr. Towns was born in Indian Prairie township, Wayne County, June 9, 1915, the son of William and Frances Milner Towns.

On Feb. 20, 1937, he married Clarice Ray in Fairfield.

Mr. Towns was a member of Cisne Christian Church, where he was currently serving his 27th year as an elder.

Survivors include his wife, Clarice Towns, of Cisne; one daughter, Mrs. Sterling (Carolyn) Johnson, of Springfield, one son, Charles Towns, of Cisne, a sister, Mrs. Wilma Laughlin, of Rinard; and five granddaughters.

Preceding him in death were a daughter and one brother.
