James Douglas, Airtex Official, Dies; Rites Set

An Airtex official, James "Jim" Douglass 56, of Fairfield, died at 12:30 a.m.  Thursday (today) Oct. 10, 1985, at St. Marys Hospital in Evansville, Ind., following a battle with cancer for over a year.

Mr. Douglass was National Accounts Sales Manager, head of Airtex's original equipment manufacturers and private label accounts. He started his business career in advertising with a New York firm before becoming vice president in charge of sales with Warren Machine Products. Mr. Douglass was employed in retail sales with Shell Oil Company for three years prior to joining Airtex Products, Inc. in 1977.

A resident of the Plaza Court condominiums in downtown Fairfield, Mr. Douglass had undergone brain surgery over a year ago.

 Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Ziemer Funeral Home and Fountain Terrace Chapels (east chapel) located at 800 S. Hebron, Evansville.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday and 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday. The family asked that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Born Mar. 7, 1919, in Boston, Mass., Mr. Douglass graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire. He attended Harvard University where he received an A.B. in History in 1951.

Among his survivors are his wife, Harriett, of Fairfield; four children, James Douglass, who lives on the east coast; Elizabeth, of Muncie, Ind.; David Douglass, attending college; and Janet, of Boston, Mass.
